Why have I been sent a reference?
If a candidate has included you as a referee, you might receive an email from the hiring organisation asking for a reference to confirm the information provided by the candidate.
The hiring organisation's email will include confirmation that the candidate has allowed them to contact you for an employment reference. The email will also inform you that your response will be shared with the hiring organisation as part of the reference checking process. Also, you'll have the option to view the consent certificate if you'd like to do so.
Who are Amiqus?
Please note that these organisations utilise Amiqus software to generate these emails and conduct reference checks. Therefore, you may see Amiqus mentioned along with the name of the requesting organisation.
What will I need to confirm?
The candidate's details, along with their job role and dates of employment, will be displayed in bold. You will be prompted to verify whether the candidate did indeed work at the specified organisation. To do so, you must answer either "yes" or "no".
How do I approve the information provided?
If you select "yes" to confirm that the candidate has worked at the organisation, you will be asked to verify further details such as their job title, start date, and end date. If all the details are accurate and correctly reflect the candidate's role, please select "Yes" for each answer and click "Submit reference" to complete the process.
What should be done in case the information provided is inaccurate?
If you select "no," you will be prompted to provide the correct information. If required, you will be presented with a series of brief questions that will help you to rectify the details provided by the candidate. Once you are satisfied that your responses accurately reflect the candidate's role and time with the organisation, you can select "Submit Reference", which will complete the process.
Incorrect Contact Rejection
Suppose you are not the appropriate person to provide a reference for the candidate. In that case, you can still suggest an alternative referee by selecting the option "I'm not the correct contact to confirm employment" when answering "No" to the question "Did the candidate work here?". We will then ask you to provide the contact details of the preferred referee. If you do not have any alternative contact information, you can simply select other options without any further questions.
If I choose not to provide a reference, what options do I have?
If you do not want to provide a reference for the candidate, simply answer "no" when asked for confirmation about their work at the provided business. You will then be redirected to a new page where you can select a reason for not providing the reference. Once you have chosen the reason, click "Submit reference" to complete the process.
