Purpose of the check
The purpose of this check is for an employer to check your criminal record if the role that you are applying for is included in the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 and the Police Act 1997 (Criminal Records) Regulations and doesn't involve regulated activity.
Enhanced DBS check including barred list
If the role that you are applying for includes frequent and unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups, your employer will also include checking the barred lists.
What is checked?
Enhanced DBS check
Any spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, final warnings from the Police National Computer that have not been filtered will be checked on an individual’s criminal record. There will also be a check of information held by police forces.
Enhanced DBS including Barred List
The same as the above and in addition, the children's and/or adult's barred lists will be checked.
Where will my certificate be sent?
Your Enhanced DBS certificate will be sent to your address that you enter in the application.
